Dr. Peters on BHP Podcast

In our third episode, we welcome Dr. Steve Peters, a retired neuropsychologist and co-author of Evidence-Based Horsemanship, for some great insights into how learning brain science can improve our horse work.

Maddy Butcher consulted Peters for the first chapter of her book, Horse Head: Brain Science & Other Insights and she reads a passage on the meaning of comfort in neuroscience terms.

  1. I loved this episode; listening to Dr Peters is always a treat, and to listen to Jec’s thoughtful questioning to understand how this knowledge can help in her area of expertise was especially helpful.

  2. I’m so excited to join you at the beginning of these podcasts which coincides with my entry into horse ownership. We discuss the importance of NH and groundwork at our barn and strive to mindfully incorporate it with each and every encounter. Dr. Peters episode connected so many important points regarding the brain/nervous system, comfort zones, and learning. Great interview!

  3. Another great podcast from Best Horse Practices. It really helps to be able to test out this knowledge with my herd in new ways that clearly made communication effective. Very meaningful work…thanks.
