Behind her youth and good nature lies someone wise beyond her years and someone interested in cutting through the thick layers nonsense that seem to pervade the horse community. Her columns consistently address the rider’s need to seek education, tackle weaknesses, and stay on a steady course of open-mindedness and self-improvement.
Here’s what she had to say about learning:
“Everybody says they want to learn and get better, but if you REALLY want to learn and make real and lasting progress?
- Get comfortable being uncomfortable.
- Throw your ego out the window and get used to looking silly, feeling stupid, not knowing, and making mistakes.
- Don’t just “hear” but listen.
- Persevere until the timing, the knowledge, and the feel of it all is yours.
It isn’t always a pretty process but learning can be a real joy when you learn how to learn.”
