This week, Jec has an interesting and enlightening conversation with legendary endurance rider, Becky Hart.
Hart has competed at an international level for longer than some of our listeners have been on this planet. One of her highlights, she says, was at the World Equestrian Games in Sweden in 1990. She and her horse, Rio (RD Grand Sultan) won individual gold. It was the only gold medal for the Americans that year. Hart and Rio entered the stadium and rode to the finish line just after the showjumping completion had ended.
It was a fanfare ending and quite memorable, she said. Most endurance competitions are fairly isolated affairs. Sometimes, there is no one at the finish line and competitors are left a note, saying, ‘Mark down your finish time…”!
Coming up for Episode 21, we have an interview with Scott Monroe
